Global Leaders Convene in Beijing to Advance "Belt and Road" Technology and Innovation

The 23rd "Belt and Road" Technology Transfer and International Cooperation Innovation Forum, initiated by the China International Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology (CIAPST), was successfully held in Beijing. The forum brought together experts from technology, business, and academia worldwide to explore ways to promote technological exchange and cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

During the forum, Prof. Amr Ezzat Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities and former Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, along with Li Yongdong, Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and the Russian Academy of Engineering, delivered keynote speeches. They shared insights on building international cooperation platforms to facilitate technology transfer and exchange, injecting new vitality into deepening partnerships within the Belt and Road Initiative.

Major Agreements Signed, Totaling Over $10 Billion

The forum witnessed a series of significant agreements, covering 50 collaborative projects across five countries, including Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the UAE, Morocco, and Jordan. These projects aimed to deepen multi-sector international cooperation.

Key partnerships established during the forum include:

  • Arab States-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Innovation Center with the UAE Vision 2031 Global Strategic Partners Center, China National Machinery Industry Corporation Ltd., and the Morocco AI2SD Global Summit Organizing Committee;
  • Tianjin Construction Engineering General Contracting Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Special Zone Construction Science and Industry Group, Thailand Regent Holding Co., Ltd., and the International Code Identification Industry Alliance (ICA);
  • Beijing Qingda Yunbo Technology Co., Ltd. with the Moroccan Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer.

The total value of these agreements exceeded $10 billion, showcasing the vital role non-governmental organizations play in fostering international scientific and technological cooperation.

A New Model for NGO-Led International Collaboration

As a non-governmental organization committed to promoting international scientific and technological exchange and cooperation, CIAPST successfully established a multi-layered and multi-sector cooperation platform through this forum. The event highlighted the critical role of technology transfer and innovation in global economic collaboration and provided strong support for connectivity and innovation-driven development among Belt and Road countries.

This forum exemplified a new model for NGOs in advancing international cooperation, effectively fostering deeper integration of science, technology, and the economy along the Belt and Road Initiative. It injected fresh vitality and possibilities into global innovation and collaboration efforts.
